Abstract:

A number of amide derivatives of pyrido quinolone have been synthesized and evaluated potency against gram positive and gram-negative bacteria, Ciprofloxacin and Gatifloxacin is used as standard drug. Compound 6 to 21 showed moderate activities compared to ciprofloxacin and gatifloxacin and compound 22 to 31 showed good activities compared with the standard drugs. The substituted piperazine attached at C-3 as amide, enhanced the activities of pyrido quinolones.

Key words: Ciprofloxacin, pyrido quinoline, microbial activity & potency.
